Letter From Our President

Letter From Our President

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As a young boy growing up in rural Bedford County during the 1970’s, I could never have imagined the devastating havoc that drug and alcohol addiction would someday bring across our whole nation and yes, even here throughout Central PA. This grip of addiction has taken hold of our families, friends and neighbors, regardless of age, gender, race or education, those whose families are saved or unsaved, financially set or just getting by. As we look around at the overwhelming destruction caused by drugs and alcohol, it can be easy to assume it is hopeless and that there is no chance for real change. Yet, I believe all is not lost, the battle isn’t over. I know that God is raising up Christ-Centered Christian Recovery Centers where there is hope. Hope for a better tomorrow, hope for hearts and lives to be changed and hope for real freedom. (Jeremiah 29:11-“For I know the plans I have for you, “declares the Lord”, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”)

Freedom House Ministries will be such a place. Designed as a Christ-Centered program to provide a 12-month, 4 phase residential program, followed by up to 90 days of on-site independent living. Our program incorporates daily classes, Bible studies, one-one counseling, GED classes for those in need, Financial Peace classes, along with employment preparation, job skills training and numerous opportunities for community service, all tailored for men who are struggling with addiction and have a true desire to be set free. (Matthew 11:29-“Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”) Freedom House Ministries is the place where men will live alongside each other, learn and grow alongside each other. (1 Peter 5:7-“Casting all your cares upon Him, He cares for you.”)

It is through this personal letter that I am asking you to consider coming alongside Freedom House Ministries to make an eternal impact in the lives of these men. Everyone has the ability to help those who desire a true change as they begin their recovery process, whether it is through daily prayer, referral to Freedom House Ministries, volunteering and mentoring or through financial support, (Matthew 25:40-“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”)

Thank you so much for taking time to read this letter and for sharing it with those around you, I know that God truly does have a plan for each of our lives, regardless of where we may find ourselves through the choices we have made. Thank you for prayerfully considering how you can be a part of Freedom House Ministries as we reach out to men in need throughout Central PA and beyond to do whatever the Lord leads us. If God’s greatest pain is to be doubted, and I am convinced it is, then it also has to be true that His greatest joy is to be believed.

In His Service,
Alan R. Brown, President Freedom House Ministries
